The image carousel is a built-in component available in many Buildfire plugins, such as the WYSIWYG, Folder, and Image Gallery plugins. It lets you upload multiple images that automatically rotate or can be swiped through by users. Each image can also include an optional action, such as linking to another plugin or an external website.

Requirements

  • The image carousel is available within the Folder, WYSIWYG, and Image Gallery plugins

  • Recommended image dimensions: 1200 x 600 px

  • Supported file types: JPG or PNG

How to use the image carousel

  1. Log in, go to Builder in the left navigation

  2. Click the + button to open the Plugin Marketplace

    • Search for Folder (or WYSIWYG) and click Add Plugin

    • Name your plugin (e.g., “Home Showcase”) and click Add

  3. In the Content tab:

    • Click Add Image in the Image Carousel section

    • Select one or more images from your media library

    • Click Insert Images to upload them

  4. Adjust the image carousel settings:

    • Speed: Choose how quickly images rotate (1 second, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, or Still)
Selecting “Still” lets users swipe manually

    • Order: Choose Random or In Order

    • Display: Choose to show one image or all uploaded images

    • (Note: In the WYSIWYG plugin, rotation speed is preset to 3–5 seconds and cannot be changed)

  5. Add actions to each image:

    • Hover over an image and click the + icon

    • Choose an action type:

      • No Action – display-only image

      • Web Content – link to a website

      • App Content – link to another feature or plugin inside the app

    • Example: Link an image for an upcoming event to your Event Manager plugin

  6. Preview the image carousel in the emulator to confirm image order, transitions, and linked actions

Pro tips

  • Use high-resolution images with consistent aspect ratios for smooth transitions.

  • Each image can include a deep link to other plugins (e.g., Event Manager, Folder, or WYSIWYG).

  • The image carousel is ideal for highlighting promotions, events, or featured content directly from your home screen.
