How to use the Event Manager plugin

Create, organize, and display events with RSVP, attendance tracking, categories, maps, and customizable layouts.

The Event Manager plugin lets you publish events with images, dates, locations, categories, RSVP requirements, attendee lists, and optional community interaction. You can manually add events or bulk‑upload them using a CSV template. Events can be displayed as a list, map, or calendar view depending on your settings.


Requirements

  • This is a Boost plugin, available on the Standard, Growth, and Business plans.

  • A Google Maps API key (required for adding or displaying event locations)


How to use the Event Manager plugin

  1. Log in, go to Builder in the left navigation

  2. Click the + button to open the Plugin Marketplace

    • Search for Event Manager, then click Add Plugin

    • Name your plugin and choose whether to add it to the side menu, then click Add again

  3. Stay in the Content tab

    • You have three choices to enter your events

      1. Enter Manually to create one manually

      2. Click Import Data to enter them in builk

        1. Each row should start with an event title, image URL, start date / time, end date / time, time zone, description, and meeting URL.

      3. Click Generate AI Data to test out the plugin without any events

    • To Enter Manually:

      1. Click Enter Manually

      2. Click Add Event

      3. Add a top image for the event listing

      4. Add an event image for the event detail page

      5. (Optional) Require RSVP

      6. (Optional) Set an attendance limit

      7. Enter the Event Title

      8. Set the Start Date and End Date

        1. Adjust the start/end time or mark the event as All Day

        2. Choose the event time zone

      9. Choose a Category or click Add Category to create one

      10. Select the Event Type:

        1. Physical Location: enter the full address

        2. Virtual Event: enter a URL (must begin with https://)

      11. Add additional information or photos

      12. (Optional) Add a Link Action (e.g., connect a Community Wall for event discussions)

      13. Click Save to publish the event

  4. Test your event in the App Preview

    • View the event card, event details, address or link, images, and info

    • Confirm that the RSVP button works and attendee counts update

    • If attendee viewing is enabled, verify that the attendee list appears

  5. Click the Design tab

    • Choose the layout for event listings (list or card styles)

    • Choose the layout for event details

    • Customize background and styling for the listing view

  6. Click the Settings tab

    • Enter your Google Maps API Key (required)

    • Select Distance Unit (miles or kilometers)

    • Choose Default View (List or Map)

    • (Optional) Enable Map View and Map Restrictions

    • Show or hide Past Events

    • Enable Upcoming Events Only

    • Enable Calendar View to display events using a navigable calendar

    • Enable Show Attendees if you want users to see attendee lists

    • Enable Social Wall to show a linked community discussion

  7. Click the Security tab

    • Turn on Require Login to restrict access

    • (Optional) Add tag-based restrictions and choose whether to match any or all tags

  8. Click the Tagging tab

    • Enter a tag name to automatically apply to users when they open this feature

    • Click Add Tag

  9. Click the Purchase tab

    • Check Require Purchase to enable

    • Choose your product type (e.g., Single Purchase or Subscription)

    • Upload an image and fill out purchase details and success/failure messages

  10. Click the Analytics tab

    • View daily opens, top users, and usage details

    • Filter by 30, 60, or 90 days

  11. Click the Categories tab

    • Add one or more categories

    • Categories appear as filters users can apply to narrow event lists

  12. Click the Language Tab

    • Customize labels and terms (e.g., change “Virtual” to another term that fits your app


Pro tips

  • Use CSV import when adding many events at once

  • Enable Calendar View if you host recurring or date‑sensitive events

  • Add Community Wall links to create a social hub for each event

  • Use categories to help users quickly find relevant events

  • Make sure your Google Maps API key is active and valid for location search and map display
