Getting Started With My Social App

What is the number one goal of an app? Social Interaction. With our system you can make a great app that helps foster that social interaction between you and your group or organization’s members. Be it a meetup group, book club, school or work organization, an app is a special mobile space that allows you to have instantaneous interaction with those members. It can create a space where you can share an activity calendar, facilitate conversation, remind people of special events, and reward high-performing members of your group. In this article we’ll go over some great features that can help you improve interaction and communication within your organization or group.

What Are Some Great Features To Use Inside Your Social App?

When you’re first navigating through our system, it can be a bit daunting thanks to the vast possibilities of what can be done with your app. That's why we’ve put together a list of some features that you can start off with which we feel will help get you on the right path to creating an amazing app for your organization or group.

What Are Some Features That Help Us Keep Track Of Upcoming Events?

Gone are the days of “Oh I forgot it was today!” and “Oh that was on Facebook? I’m rarely on that.” as excuses for not showing up. You need a centralized location that has all the events that is easily accessible, user-friendly, and hassle-free.

In our system, we have both the Events Feed feature and the Events Manual feature which were made specifically for this purpose. Schedule meetups times and locations or any non-regular events for easy access anytime. Updating it is a cinch and all you have to do to notify your group of a new event is to send out a notification after you publish your changes to the app.

You may ask what’s the difference between those two features? We’re glad you asked! The Events Manual Feature allows you to manually input events into the in-app calendar via the App Dashboard, while the Event Feed Feature allows you to add events to the in-app calendar by syncing it with an iCal link.

Which Features Can Help Me Communicate With My Group Or Organization?

Not everyone has social media, and group chats and email chains can get annoying really quick. Forums and chat rooms are old school and most aren’t mobile friendly. Any app that has a chatroom built into it can help solve this issue. With our Social Wall feature you can create a special space just for your members outside of social media, emails, and text. With it  you can send texts, pictures, and images to one another in a seamless chatroom-like style. It’s just another great way to keep in touch with one another!

Another great way to connect with your group or organization  is through Push Notifications. With our system you have complete control over your notifications. You can send out scheduled notifications, create notification groups that deal with specific topics that users can subscribe to, as well as set up automatic notifications. We also have the GeoFence feature that allows you to send out locations-based notifications. Have an event coming up in a couple of days? You can set up a notification to trigger whenever someone gets within a certain distance of the event’s location which can remind them of the upcoming event.

What Features Can I Use To Encourage Participation?

When monetary incentive isn’t the biggest motivation to keep an organization running, other incentive systems are vital to keeping members of a social group engaged. While the Loyalty feature was created for business loyalty programs in mind, we’ve been impressed with seeing all the creative ways our users have used it in other unique ways. One pertinent application for a social app is to use the Loyalty feature to keep track of member participation. You can give reward points for attendance, volunteer hours, donating, or any other activities you’d like to incentivize your members to do.

Along with the Loyalty feature, you can use the Coupon feature to help encourage regular participation. Have a monthly event that you want to encourage people to attend? Provide them with a coupon that can only be redeemed at the event to help encourage attendance.

Creating an app for social organizations is a great way to just keep in touch with all the members. Not everyone has social media, and email is too formal a technology for that. Apps allow for a casual and instantaneous interaction that can help keep a social organization thriving.

These are just a small handful of features that you can use in your app to help expand communication and participation within your group or organization. We have many more features  in our system, and we encourage you to check out all of the amazing features that we offer so that you can make the best app for your group or organization.
