You can use Zapier to trigger push notifications in your app based on actions from other platforms, like when someone fills out a form or submits information.

Requirements

  • This Zapier Integration is only available on our Growth and Scale plan.

  • You must request a Zapier API key from Buildfire support, contact us before getting started.

  • You will need to accept our Support invite to see Buildfire as an Action.

  • A Zapier account and a source (e.g., Typeform, Google Sheets, HubSpot).

How to send push notifications using Zapier

  1. In Zapier, click + Create Zap.

  2. Select your Trigger app (e.g., Google Sheets or Typeform).

    • Choose the event that will trigger the registration (e.g., New Row or New Submission).

    • Click Continue and connect your trigger app account.

    • Set up the trigger by mapping your fields and test the connection.

  3. For the Action, search for and select Buildfire.

    • Choose Schedule Push Notification as the action event.

    • Under Account, click Select, click + Connect a new account.

    • Enter the API key (provided by our Support team).

    • Click Continue.

  4. Under Configure tab, map the required fields:

    • Required: Title, Message (You can either manually add or map from the Trigger App by typing /) .

    • Enter at least one Group ID, User ID, or User Tags (otherwise notification will not be sent).

  5. Test your Zap to ensure data is posting correctly.

  6. Turn your Zap On.

Pro tips

  • If you’d like to send to all users, use a tag like $$registered, which is applied to all registered users.

  • To find Group ID in the Buildfire app, go to Push Notifications within the left menu, select the Groups tab, and you will find Group ID (if you have already created a group).

  • To find User ID in the Buildfire app, go to Users within the left menu, select the User Management tab, click on the Name of the user, and under User Information you will find the U.

Troubleshooting tips

  • If the notification isn’t sending, double-check that the API key and App ID are correct.

  • If you receive a 401 error, try generating a new API key.
