The Audio Media Player can be used as the control hub for all audio and media of your app such as the Media Center Manual and Media Center RSS Feed features. It allows your users to quickly pause, play, fast forward, and rewind an audio clip. They can also create a master playlist with items they have favorited.

What are some use cases of the Audio Media Player?

Some use cases of this feature include:

Music Producer or Artist App: You can allow users to create their own playlists of songs in your app
Podcasts: You can allow users to play episodes continuously by adding them to their playlist
Educational Institutions: You can allow users to control educational audio such as lectures, presentations, or seminars
Internal Apps: Users can control audio training material
Churches: Encourage listening to the upcoming weekend’s songs for increased participation or the previous week's sermon

What is the Audio Media Player’s primary function and what are the steps to accomplish it?

As its name suggests, the Audio Media Player’s main function is to give users additional control over the audio in your app. Let’s go over how it’s used.

How to use the Audio Media Player Feature

Before the Audio Media Player feature can be used, you’ll first need to have a media feature such as the Media Center Manual or the Media Center RSS Feed. Once you've added one of these features, ensure that you have also added audio content to them. Otherwise, there won’t be any audio for the Audio Media Player feature to control.

Note: When adding the Audio Media Player to your app, we highly recommend that you put it in your side menu so that it's always accessible to your users wherever they are in your app.

Step 1: Go to any of the audio-based features we have such as the Media Centers and click play

Once the file has buffered enough, which can vary depending on your connection speed, the audio will begin to play.

You will find standard audio controls beneath the audio information.

Step 2: Exit out of the Audio Media Player and browse the rest of the app

You can now exit out of the Audio Media Player and browse through the rest of your app while the audio continues to play. If you added the Audio Media Player to your app’s side menu, you can quickly go back to the Audio Media Player Feature to control whatever you’re currently listening to.

How to Create a Playlist

Not only does the Audio Media Player give you additional control over the audio files in your app, but it also allows you to create a playlist of your favorite songs, podcasts, or sermons. Here’s how you can create a playlist in the Audio Media Player feature:

Step 1: Tap on the three dots icon

When an audio file is playing in the Audio Media Player, simply tap on the three dots icon.

Step 2: Select “Add to Playlist”

Then tap on “Add to Playlist”

If you would like to view your playlist at any time, simply tap on the three dots icon, then “Go to Playlist”.

This will take you to your playlist.

You can also remove the audio file from your playlist by selecting “Remove From Playlist”.

You can find some additional settings for the audio playback and your playlist by tapping on the gear icon.

Simply tap on the check box next to each option that you want to enable.
