Hi there. In this video, I’ll be showing you how to use the User Management and Tagging system.

User management and tagging can be simplified to one basic concept: getting to know your users. The system was built to let you organize and, in a way, quantify them. Then you can use this data to make key app and business decisions. Everything about this system centers on tags. Tags are basically keywords that you’d like to associate with that person. They could be based on demographic information, consumer behavior, how they found out about your app, or any other information that might be relevant to your business. Using these tags, you can then restrict parts of your app.

Here are some use cases:

If you see that your users are using your loyalty plugin a lot, then you can start focusing your push notifications on new loyalty plugin rewards.

If you learn that a lot of your users are people in their twenties, then you can take start marketing your app directly to people in their twenties.

Maybe you notice your most active users on the Social Plugin have the same marketing questions. You can update your marketing blog with a new post that specifically answers them.

In another scenario, you’re a car dealership and you see that one user has a lot of BMW tags associated with them. Using their user profile, you can get their contact information and reach out to them about any sales you might have on BMWs.

Create a VIP or members-only folder in your app with exclusive content that will only let users with the VIP tag access. Use this as an opportunity to monetize.

I hope those ideas sparked some of your own! Now let me show you how to use the system.

Whenever your user creates a new profile, it will now appear here under User Management > Users. Here you’ll have a birds-eye view of everyone who’s anyone on your app.

Basic search lets you search users by name or email address, Advanced Search lets you search for users by tag and sign up date.

You can also import and export user information that you can make mass changes to, if you prefer using spreadsheets.

Pro tip: this is a great tool to use if you’re looking for some user data to amp up a presentation or marketing report.

Clicking on Manage takes you to their User Information tab, which lets you look at their information, like social media, bio, and website.

You can change whether the account is Active or Banned, which is useful if you have an unruly member misusing your app or being a jerk to other users. Other than that, you can’t change most of this information yourself.

However, your users can change it by going to their user profile in the side menu and clicking on Edit Profile. We recommend that you encourage your users to do this in order to make the most out of the user management system. Then, you can use this information to curate your content, build your app, and even make important business decisions.

Under User Tags, you can check out all of the tags associated with that user and how often they’ve been added. We allow you to add more than 1 of the same tag to a user because we believe that this can be a valuable tool for you as well. Like the example earlier with the BMW customer, knowing how often a tag is applied can be just as important as the tag itself. Here, you can also add and remove tags. Clicking on Manage Tags takes you to the same place as clicking on User Management > Tagging does.

Here, you’ll see every single tag you’ve created on your platform as well as how often it’s been used. If you see a lot of the same tag appear, then that’ll give you a better idea of what kinds of users you have overall. This will help you in deciding how to engage with them. Maybe you learn that a lot of your users are active Instagram users because the Instagram tag appears the most often. If this is the case, maybe you should up your Instagram game. To create a new tag, click Create New Tag, type in the tag name, and click Save. Now the tag is in the system, ready to be applied to your users. Clicking on Manage lets you search and see exactly which users the tag is applied to, as well as give you the option to remove a tag from a user if necessary.

Use these tags to restrict access to certain plugins. For example, let’s take that VIP/Members-Only Folder example I mentioned earlier. How can we go about creating something like this? First, go to the Plugin you’d like to restrict access to.Then check the Required Login box here and click edit access settings. Here you can enter in the tags that will act as the key to enter the plugin. You can use this feature to monetize certain parts of your app, create a more exclusive feel for special users, or simply protect that information from being accessed.
